What Is DE?

DE is fossilized Aulacoseira diatoms created during the Miocene Epoch which lived in freshwater lakes millions of years ago. Not all DE is the same, Safe Solutions DE Fossil Shell Flour® is special because their shells are made of amorphous silica – allowing it to be in its natural state and be much harder (unlike weaker saltwater DE). This means DE will not dissolve when added to water solutions. These unique properties allow DE to be abrasive against insects, suffocating them, and also absorb moisture – aiding in drying insects out.

The pure, food-grade DE can be added to feed for horses, a wide-range of livestock, and even poultry for nutritional & health benefits. Helps to prevent caking and prevent mold growth in humid conditions.

Safe For Pets

Our food-grade DE is also great for cats & dogs, which contains 89% or more Silicon Dioxide and other trace minerals.

Organic Agriculture & Gardening

Dry Application: Apply a thin layer of DE over plants and soil you want to protect. Best applied with our Pest Pistol Hand Pump Duster. Wet Application: Often times a wet application may be easier, simply combine a little DE into a TweetMint Plant Wash or Not Nice To Bugs solution. The DE will provide longer-lasting protection after the solution dries.

Use In Stables & Barns

Combine a little DE into a Horse Fly TweetMint solution and treat manure, paddock, and stable or barn area for added protection against flies & other pests.
